OOPS Wrong Text Number!

Have you ever sent a text that was intended for one person, but ended up with the wrong person due to a typo? Usually, my phone pulls up the number I'm trying to reach, but every once in awhile I'll end up choosing the wrong number. I usually catch this right away, but if my Fibro Fog is bad that day, the message gets sent to the wrong person.  I'm always embarrassed when I realize this.

One of my friends told me this story the other day about this calamity that made me feel better. I don’t know if the story is true, but it made me laugh. It also reminded me to double check the phone number for texts before clicking SEND!

Anyway, sometimes the best inspiration is a good laugh.  Hope you enjoy this story as much as I do. Here it is:

An Oregon man left the snow-filled streets for a warm vacation in the Bahamas. His wife would be arriving a day later for the trip due to a last minute work conflict.

Their plan was simply to meet each other the next day when she arrived. When he reached the hotel, he decided to send his wife a quick text, letting her know he’d arrived safely and was eagerly anticipating the next day.

He quickly typed in her phone number from memory and sent her a lovely little message. Unfortunately, the phone number he typed was off by ONE number.

As a result, the text went to an elderly woman, whose husband, a minister, had died the day before. When the sweet grieving widow checked her texts, she screamed and fainted.

Of course, her family rushed in to see what had happened. To their horror, they saw the following message on her phone:

My Dearest Wife Just got checked in. Everything is prepared for your arrival tomorrow. It's really hot down here! Your Loving Husband

  1. That is an old "typo in email address" joke but still funny. It's fascinating to see how jokes change over time - 15 years ago email, now texting, what will it be 15 years from now?

  2. That's funny. I kind of suspected it was a bit of an "urban legend" but it made me laugh so I thought I'd share. Never would have guessed it started out as an email address joke! 15 years from now it will probably morph into something unimaginable right now like an ESP joke or something. lol
