Have
you ever heard the saying “there’s no I in team”? I remember rolling my eyes every time a coach
or team member would say this as a teenager. As an adult, I recognize that the
pithy saying is actually covering a hidden gem that we would all be wise to
follow. A true team is one that works
together to achieve a purpose beyond the needs of one individual, but a team
also does not exist without each individual member!
Being part of a team is a wonderful
experience. I have had the good fortune to be a part of many teams including
volleyball, drama, and dance. Currently,
I’m creating a team with my wonderful followers on my blog and Facebook page
with the end goal of increasing Fibromyalgia Awareness.
This group of people, the people who
have or know people with “invisible” illnesses, are part of the most valuable
team I have ever had the honor of being a part of. In my opinion, the ideal team consists of
people with many talents and interests who share their abilities and
experiences with one another with the hopes of benefitting the team as a whole
and the individual members.
My greatest hope is that my ever growing
“team” of wonderful people who support Fibromyalgia Awareness will one day be
the key to not only making the world better for everyone with “invisible”
illnesses, but to also find an actual cure.
In the meantime, instead of sitting
idly by waiting for a cure, my team members are all working to share their
experiences to help others deal with chronic illness in the most positive ways
possible!
With this team, the “I” is
actually the most important part. Every time someone says “I have been through
this,” “I care,” “I want to help,” and anything else starting with starting with
“I” in this team battle; we, as a team, are saying that things are not ok the
way they are and they need to change and I am willing and wanting to be a part
of the change.
Don’t forget yourself and the
importance of “I” and “Me” in this team, because it is you that will make the difference.
This team isn’t going to play games, we are working together to battle indifference
and misinformation, while creating a better place for everyone touched by “invisible”
illnesses.
In short, the best team I have ever been a part of, is THIS team. The team comprising of my friends, family, and followers who care and want to help raise Fibromyalgia Awareness.
Thank you each and everyone of you!
Go Team Go!
Exactly!!! Go Team!!! I have a great team too, bloggy friends, online friends, friends, and some family. I do hope that someday we will have a cure!
