Walk of Life
Walking softly,
Past the fields of flowers,
Traversing into the unknown.
Following the trails with no end,
Through the twisted forests,
Passing cold, muddy streams.
Delving deeper,
Into the land of sorrow,
Choosing Random Paths.
Hoping for salvation,
Knowing it may never come,
Falling deeper into nothing.
Seeing beauty,
Hesitantly walking towards it,
Hoping it isn’t an illusion.
Spanning the water,
The gnarled bridge reaches ahead,
Leaving past sorrows behind.
Stopping in a place of
Undisguised love and beauty,
Until tomorrow.
This is a poem that I wrote in college, long before I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I
originally intended this poem to be a commentary on the ups and downs we face in life
on a day to day basis as we follow our individual paths in life.
However, it has so much more meaning for me now than it did when I first wrote it.
Now, it seems more a reflection of how difficult life can be with Fibromyalgia and how
special each day really is.
I hope you enjoy my poem.
